OTTAWA, Ont.—Eid al-Adha begins Thursday night. It is a time for Muslims to remember the challenges that the Prophet Ibrahim (peace and blessings be upon him) overcame in his loyalty, devotion and obedience to Allah.
Ibrahim was tested by Allah, who told him to sacrifice his son, Ismaeel. When Ibrahim obeyed and proved his faith, Allah replaced his son with a lamb and spared Ismaeel. Eid al-Adha is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice.
Every year, Muslims around the world celebrate Ibrahim’s obedience to Allah and also remember to sacrifice the bad habits that take us away from Allah.
Normally, the Treehouse family hosts an Eid party for our children. We could not have a celebration this year because of COVID-19, but we were still able to see the Sidra kids from a distance and distribute gift bags with UOSmile.

- Host a Zoom, facetime or Skype party
- Drive by your friends’ and families’ homes to say hello in the car
- BYOP (Bring Your Own Picnic) and lawn chairs to your local park or a backyard
