Mentor with Sidra
Our mentors act like the newcomer and refugee children’s older siblings and role models. Our two-hour Sidra sessions are held once a week, and mentors are expected to attend every session. Our mentors also enjoy engaging with the kids and their parents outside of Sidra, and chat with them during the week.
A successful Sidra mentor is energetic, friendly and patient—you are working with kids after all! A positive attitude and the willingness to help out wherever it’s needed (whether it be running around outside, teaching math, or crafting) is essential. Our mentors take the time to forge meaningful connections with kids who are facing a lot of unknowns in a new country. We help them smoothly transition to life in Canada and reach their full potential.
